What Is ‘100 Miles’ All About?
‘100 Miles’ is a food blog written by me, freelance writer, Charles G. Thompson. The blog’s content is based on my twenty-year career in the food and restaurant business starting when I was seventeen. I have been a personal cook in France, cooked in and/or managed top U.S. restaurants, and worked in management in high-end gourmet food stores in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles. I have eaten my way across the U.S., Europe, Mexico, South America, and, Hong Kong. I speak French, Spanish, and Italian.
Content
All content on ‘100 Miles’ is written by me, Charles G. Thompson, unless indicated otherwise. Readers of ‘100 Miles’ can expect to find general food writing in addition to cookbook, magazine, and product reviews. Generally speaking, I don’t write restaurant reviews. I do, however, write informational pieces on businesses that matter to me and to the ‘100 mile’ concept. You will also find pieces on travel, cookbooks, and recipes as well as interviews with chefs, food writers, and others in the food business. Please let me know if there is something or someone you think I should write about and I’d be happy to consider it.
Recipes
The recipes posted on ‘100 Miles’ may be printed, downloaded, or written down for personal use. If the recipe is original to me I’d appreciate receiving credit if you post it electronically or in print. Recipes not original to me will identify the original source (usually with ‘adapted from’).

Unless indicated otherwise all photographs on ‘100 Miles,’ aside from family photographs, were taken by me and may not be used without my permission. Most photos have been shot with two cameras: a Canon EOS Rebel XSi and an Olympus FE-190. I recommend the Canon EOS Rebel XSi, a DSLR.
Cookbooks & Food Related Products
I collect cookbooks and own those listed on the ‘Cookbooks’ page of this blog as well as those on the Amazon widget. Some of the cookbooks are sent to me by publishers for review and those I did not purchase. I have not cooked from every book (yet) but I do recommend them all. The kitchen items on the Amazon widget are items I own, use, and recommend. If you are considering buying any of the cookbooks or kitchen items I’d appreciate your doing so through my Amazon widget. If you have any questions about any of the books or kitchen items that I own do not hesitate to contact me. If you are new to cooking and would like suggestions on what cookbooks and kitchen items to buy I would be happy to help.
